Customer Story James Madison University Water Line Replacement
Same-day response to water line rupture in the heart of JMU's bustling campus.
Our Client Founded in 1908, James Madison University is a public university located in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. JMU is fast becoming one of the nation’s leading lights in higher education because students enjoy unusually engaged relationships with world-class faculty who are here because they want to pursue knowledge and make teaching their No. 1 priority.
Project Description An aged water line near Mr. Chips, in the heart JMU’s campus, ruptured and needed replacement. The replacement line would need to be directionally bored under a creek and existing utilities.
The Colman Engineering team was able to provide consulting services the day of the line rupture—promptly designing the line while accommodating for future campus expansions. The team coordinated with JMU, utility owners, and the horizontal directional driller.
The new water line was successfully and safely constructed to provide a necessary loop for JMU’s water distribution system.
