Customer Story James Madison University JMAC 2 & 4 Site Feasibility Study
Laying the groundwork for future development and building feasibility.
Our Client Founded in 1908, James Madison University is a public university located in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. JMU is fast becoming one of the nation’s leading lights in higher education because students enjoy unusually engaged relationships with world-class faculty who are here because they want to pursue knowledge and make teaching their No. 1 priority.
Project Description To support JMU’s long-term growth, Colman Engineering conducted a Parking Feasibility Study for the JMAC 2 and 4 site, exploring options for reconfiguring parking areas and accommodating a future building.
The project included a preliminary topographic survey, a conceptual site design outlining building placement, parking, utilities, and stormwater management requirements, as well as a preliminary grading plan. Colman Engineering also developed a cost estimate to provide stakeholders with a clear understanding of the investment needed.
These preliminary planning documents can serve as a foundation for future site development, ensuring JMU’s infrastructure can meet evolving campus needs.
