Customer Story James Madison University Frye Telecom Duct-Bank Bypass
Designing and coordinating an optimal path for new data line conduit.
Our Client Founded in 1908, James Madison University is a public university located in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley. JMU is fast becoming one of the nation’s leading lights in higher education because students enjoy unusually engaged relationships with world-class faculty who are here because they want to pursue knowledge and make teaching their No. 1 priority.
Project Description A new data line conduit and railroad crossing were needed to support connectivity across campus, to help support the ever-increasing needs of the university.
Colman Engineering provided civil engineering services, including a detailed site boundary and topographic survey to identify existing conditions such as utilities, parking lots, roadways, and the railroad right-of-way. A site layout design established the optimal path for the data line and junction boxes, with plan and profile drawings identifying utility crossings and the railroad crossing location.
Additionally, the Colman team developed erosion and sediment control plans to minimize environmental impact along the proposed route and embankment.
Colman Engineering coordinated closely with JMU stakeholders and the railroad to finalize the design, ensuring seamless integration of the new data line infrastructure.
